Enlarging the LDA's network in Northern Morocco
ALDA is proudly enlarging its Local Democracy Agencies’ network in Northern Morocco, in order to strengthen its cooperation with European Neighbourhood Countries, thus boosting democracy, promoting good governance and encouraging citizens’ participation at local level. This is an extraordinary path to build good relationships in the Euro-Mediterranean region, which is a strategic basin for enforcing a concrete cooperation.
Supported by international partners, such as the Fons Mallorqui and ORU Fogar, ALDA welcomed the opportunity to collaborate with four municipalities in the Moroccan region of Tanger-Tétouan-Al Hoceima, in view of the future opening of an LDA in the region.
Waiting for the LDA Northern Morocco to become operational in the following months, ALDA’s representatives met the mayors of four Maroccan cities - Tétouan, Tanger, Chefchaouen and Larache - in Tétouan, from the 27th of February to the 2nd of March. All mayors are fostering the initiative to open a Local Democracy Agency in Tétouan - with focal points in the other three municipalities involved, in order to collaborate and jointly work on specific issues particularly affecting the region.
All activities will be carried out with the participation of both international and national partners, among which there are some of the most relevant CSOs working on that area.
