French film festival in Skopje
The French film festival is an annual event that brings the much awaited French cinematography to the Macedonian theaters.
This is the seventh consecutive year that the Macedonian public has the opportunity to witness some of the most popular contemporary French films. This year, in the framework of its decentralized cooperation with Macedonia, the Region Lower Normandy continues to support this important cultural event.
This year the tradition of presenting documentaries and related workshops continues. In addition to the main program, following the notion of remembrance and reconciliation, the Macedonian public will also enjoy the films dedicated to the Commemoration of the First and the Second World War. The main focus is on the documentary “À la lumière de l’aube” (In the light of dawn) which describes the operation “Overlord”, the legendary D-Day that played out on the beaches of Lower Normandy during the Second World War.
During the press conference for the French film festival the importance of this event was noted by the French Ambassador in Macedonia, Mrs. Laurence Auer. Furthermore, the Minister of Culture of Macedonia Mrs. Elizabeta Kamcheska Milevska pointed out that it is a very valuable asset for the relations between France and Macedonia and it opens up new opportunities for cooperation between cinematographers from both countries.
The French film festival is organized by the French Institute of Skopje in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture of Macedonia and with the support of the Region Lower Normandy. This region cooperates with Macedonia since 2006 in the framework of the Programme for decentralised cooperation between these two territories. The Programme is coordinated by ALDA.
