Project CITIZENS - ALDA at the final meeting in Ljubljana
Irene Zanetti, ALDA Communication Officer, and Marco Boaria, Resources and Development Coordinator, attended last week in Ljubljana the final meeting of the project CITIZENS, supported by the European Commisison through the programme Grundtvig.
The event represented the conclusion of a 1-year process which included meeting in Vicenza, Kracow, Lisbon and Lubiana during which the numerorus partners, coming from 8 different countries, exchanged their views, ideas, opinion and strategies on how to promote effective citizen participation in the management of "public spaces" at the local level.
The meeting offered the opportunity to visit interesting and innovative services, "shaped" thanks to the diect participation of citizens in their development and governance such as: family centres, youth centre, urban garden. youth hostel, etc. The meetings were particularly successful thanks to the multipying potentiality of the different services, which could be taken as model to export in the other partners' countries. The partners, including the Studio Centro Veneto, a Vicenza-based organization partner of ALDA, are now thinking about the follow-up action, to continue to support the principle of "putting citizens at the heart" of the communities.
