ALDA in Moldova to support regional development and citizens participation
The Secretary General of ALDA, Mrs. Antonella Valmorbida, attended a conference organized by the beneficiary of the scholarship Gianfranco Martini, Dumitru Sratan on local government and regional development in Chisenau, Moldova, 13th of November 2014.
The programme “Multifunctionality, regional development and intermunicipal cooperation in EU – best practices for Moldova” was supported by the Visegrad Fund and hosted by the National Accademy of Sciences. The event was attended by more than 50 local authorities and the agency for regional development established in the different parts of the country. The process of decentralisation is one of the strategy for development adopted by the country and needs know to be translated into fact with a connected capacity (human and financial) to the local institutions. The conference addressed the new standards and policies of the European Union on the issue of Regional Development. Moldova, being a signatory of the Association Agreement and with no visa regime for the EU, is among the biggest potential for this kind of development.
Mrs. Valmorbida reminded the participants the Eastern Partnership strategy of ALDA and the wish for us to have soon the development of programmes and a Local Democracy Agency in country.
