ALDA among the European Federalist organization in Ancona, Italy
The Secretary General of ALDA, Antonella Valmorbida, represented our organisation at the Italian Congress of the European Federalists in Ancona, Italy.
A tight cooperation is in place with the Italian movement hosting the Vicenza Section, which is also developing many common educational initiatives in the Veneto Region and in Italy.
At the event, Antonella Valmorbida recalled the importance to have a more integrated and “deep” European governance in order to be able to give answers to the internal challenges of the EU - like employment and equality - and at the international level. “It is my understanding that only through a real integrated and functional Europe, the challenges of the global issues, such are peace, security and development, could be addressed collectively by the EU member States”.
Many contributions at the Congress addressed the difficulties in Ukraine and in the Eastern Partnership Countries, as well as in the South. ALDA was presented as a truly European organisation working pragmatically with local authorities and civil society to bring about changes and support democratic transition and peace making processes in all those regions.
During the closing day of the Congress, Giorgio Anselmi was elected as the President of the European Movement Italy and Franco Spoltore was confirmed as Secretary General.
