Changing course to Europe: ALDA adopts resolution of European Movement Italy
In view of the Celebrations of the 60th anniversary of the Treaties of Rome on the 25th of March, ALDA adopted the declaration “Changing Course to Europe”, drafted by the European Movement Italy. The decision was taken by the majority of the Governing Board members, meeting in Modena (Italy) on 10 February.
According to the statement, "A World of Peace, Solidarity and Justice needs more Europe of Peace, Solidarity and Justice”, the European project risks to collapse and disintegrate, thus leading to worse conditions for all its citizens. The statements calls for a deeper European democracy, where sovereignty belongs to citizens aiming at an integrated and federal governance of Europe. As ALDA, we claim that local authorities and citizens, working together for the good of their communities, represent an essential pillar of the Europe that we want.
ALDA also joins the “March for Europe 2017” gathering and invites all its members and partners to be part of this big pro-European initiative. More information and opportunities for participation will be communicated soon.
