Join ALDA’s activities at the 5th Assises of Decentralised Cooperation for Development in Brussels – Registration is now open
The 5th Assises of Decentralised Cooperation for Development will take place in Brussels on 10 and 11 July 2017 at the European Committee of the Regions (Rue Belliard 99-101, 1040 Bruxelles, Belgium), a two-day programme with the participation of ALDA, through her Secretary General Antonella Valmorbida, and its LADDER Project.
More than 600 participants, local and regional authorities from the EU, Africa, Caribbean, Pacific and Latin America will come together to discuss common challenges and build sustainable partnerships. Starting from the presentation of the political context of development cooperation, the 5th edition of the Assises of Decentralised Cooperation will examine in depth new scenarios, latest developments, future challenges and opportunities during two plenary sessions featuring debates with senior representatives of the EU institutions, five roundtables on policy-making and six project-oriented workshops.
On Monday 10th, ALDA will take part to one of the round tables of the afternoon (RT - 4). “Decentralized cooperation & territorial development: complementing one another?”: this is the question of the round table co-organized together with UNDP, CIEDEL, CFSI and Basque Country/CPMR. The round table will address the above dimensions, by identifying opportunities and challenges deriving from analytical research as well as fact-based experiences from case studies coming from different regions of the world.
On Tuesday 11st, ALDA will join the workshop (WS - F) about education for development “LAs becoming drivers for change through development education: from the challenge to the opportunity”, co-organized together with Diputación de Valladolid, Universidad de Valladolid, Climate Alliance, Junta de Castilla y León and City of Kutaisi. It aims at addressing the situation of development education in the enlarged Europe and discussing with the audience on the challenges and opportunities arising from current context, sharing examples of best practices and lessons learnt. Particularly, ALDA will present the research about the LAs and CSOs’ level of awareness about DEAR and SDGs implemented within the framework of the LADDER Project.
