LDA Armenia in the US for learning exchange on improving communities
From 9 to 13th July about 150 participants from all over the world gathered at Kettering Foundation in Dayton, Ohio for the learning exchange called “Deliberative Democracy Institute 2”. The aim of the exchange is to explore a range of ideas that can improve public life at the community level and beyond by encouraging citizen participation and advancing knowledge of democratic practices.
The Delegate of LDA Armenia, Lusine Aleksandryan was present for the second time in order to discuss experiences and best practices in the methodologies used for framing issues and deliberations at community level.
Furthermore, Aleksandryan, along with colleagues from DDI2, took a session on “Citizens participation in the decision-making processes” based on the Kettering method. This is to raise problems, collecting concerns and suggest actions and drawbacks. Once back in Armenia, Ms Aleksandryan will continue to apply this method in the communities of Armenia in order to promote community experience of joint decision-making and problem solving.
