“THE STATE OF THE CONGRESS 2011” PUBLISHED BY THE CONGRESS OF LOCAL AND REGIONAL AUTHORITIES



The State of the Congress 2011”, the annual publication describing major fields of action of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities, has just been published.
It includes concise information on Congress core activities, notably the monitoring of implementation of the European Charter of Local Self-Government and observation of local and regional elections. Targeted assistance programmes for Europe’s municipalities to strengthen grassroots democracy in Council of Europe member states and topical issues, in particular the impact of the current economic crisis on cities and regions, citizen participation and Roma inclusion at local level have been addressed as well.

The publication is available also online , in a user-friendly way which allows a more animated form of reading (flip book tool). Additional paper copies of “The State of the Congress 2011” (in English or French) can be ordered at : congress.com@coe.int.
