A GEORGIAN VILLAGE WILL BE SET UP AT THE STRASBOURG CHRISTMAS MARKET 2012
A Georgian Christmas village will be set up at the Strasbourg Christmas market this year. Decision to invite Georgia to the Christmas Market has been made by the Strasbourg Mayor's Office and has been officialised during the LDA Georgia partner meeting, held in Strasbourg last week.
The Georgian side will open the corner at the market by mid-November. The fair will continue till December 31. According to the organizers, all regions of Georgia will be represented at the Christmas Market in Strasbourg, including Georgian products, traditional dishes and clothing.
Tradition of Christmas market in Strasbourg has about a 450-year-long history. The first Christmas market in Strasbourg was organized in 1570. Every year various countries are invited to participate in the market. The number of tourists has exceeded 3 million in Strasbourg in 2011 due to the event.
The city of Strasbourg is the lead partner of LDA Georgia.
