INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE “FREEDOM AND PRIVACY ON THE INTERNET” IN SKOPJE

The Metamorphosis Foundation and the International Institute for Peace and Human Rights from Caen are organizing an international conference on the topic “Freedom and privacy on the internet”, on May 21-22, 2012. The event is organized within the framework of the long-term project for decentralized cooperation between Macedonia and the Lower Normandy region, coordinated by ALDA, supported by the France-Balkan Network, and will be held in City Hall in Skopje.
The conference will address two major topics: privacy and freedom of expression, with experts from several countries holding presentations from various aspects of these topics. Main conference sessions will span issues such as the legal frameworks on privacy in several countries from the EU and the Balkans, and there will be a discussion on children's privacy on the internet, privacy in the business sector and in the media. As for the freedom of expression, the topics we will cover include: censorship in the media, hate speech, the role of the state, as well as the role of social media as a free territory.
