EXCHANGE OF EXPERIENCES TO IMPROVE THE MILK QUALITY IN MACEDONIA AND LOWER NORMANDY
The Federation of Farmers from Republic of Macedonia (FFRM) organised a visit in Macedonia for the French farmers, representatives of the association AFDI (French Farmers and international development), from 8 to 15 August 2012. During the seven-day visit of the delegation from Lower Normandy, they had, and will have, meetings with farmers and visited several dairies in Macedonia.
They also had a working meeting with the Deputy Minister of Agriculture in Macedonia, Mr Zoran Konjanovski. During the meeting with the Deputy Minister, they had the opportunity to learn more about Macedonian agricultural policy as well as the issues facing the country in this field.
According to Andrija Sekulovski, President of the FFRM, improving the milk quality met many challenges, because the owners of small farms are not able to make the necessary investments. The consequences will be even worse if farmers do not meet and do not follow the milk quality standards.
The problem of milk quality in France appeared 40 years ago and is now resolved. According to French experts, Macedonia should also work to overcome this problem and to obtain competitive products on the market. Within the Federation of Farmers from Macedonia, a group on milk production was created in order to improve the milk quality.
This activity is part of the component: Agriculture Development within the Project for decentralized cooperation between Republic of Macedonia and the region of Lower Normandy – France, managed by ALDA, implemented by the FFRM (Federation of Farmers from Republic of Macedonia) – Macedonia and the AFDI (French Farmers and international development )– France.
