CROATIA IN EUROPE: STUDY VISIT IN VENETO REGION FOR FORTY YOUNG CROATIAN (Vicenza, Padua, Venice, Italy, 22-24 October 2012)
ALDA, in the framework of the project THINK.EU, of which is a partner, organized a study visit in Veneto region, Italy (22-24 October 2012) for a group of forty Croatian young professionals and students from the Istria Region.
The objective of the visit is to put these future EU citizens in contact with institutions, agencies and associations working for years in the development of European values, in particular active citizenship and participatory democracy.
Next summer, Croatia will enter the European Union and this will be an important step in the process of integration that the Balkan Countries initiated immediately after the conflict.
A path that has been accompanied in recent decades, from the Local Democracy Agencies and ALDA which currently has three LDAs in Croatia (Brtonigla, Istria, Sisak and Osijek) and, since last June, a young Croatian President, Oriano Otočan, director of the International Relations Department of the Region of Istria.
In Vicenza, today (11.00 - 12.45) The group of young Croatian will visit the High School Canova, where they will meet students, teachers and the secretary of the European Federalist Movement of Vicenza, Fabio Pietribiasi, while in the afternoon (14:30 to 16:00) they will be at the Information Centre, welcomed by Director of ALDA, Antonella Valmorbida, and the coordinator of the center, Stefano Panella, ad after they will visit social cooperatives.
Tuesday, October 23 in Padua the Croatian delegation will visit to the University, with an exchange of views with teachers and students, followed in the afternoon by meetings with associations of civil society and a visit at Eurodesk.
Wednesday, October 24, finally the group will be engaged in a visit to the Veneto Region, where will meet officials of Unit European projects, and non-governmental associations. In the afternoon the restart to Pula.
The group will be accompanied during the visit by the coordinator of the resources and development Unit of ALDA, Marco Boaria, and the responsible for the development of new projects of the Association, Anna Ditta.
