The situation in Cataluña is very critical and must be immediately addressed at all levels in order to avoid violent escalations which ALDA and its partners and members have seen too often, and that only lead to devastation. Within legality and with full respect for human rights, the people and citizens have the right to freely express their opinion. Violence against ordinary citizens has no justification.

Manaki brothers’ work studied and promoted within Normandy-Macedonia cooperation
The monograph “Manaki – story in pictures about Janaki and Milton” by the photographer Robert Jankulovski was promoted on the 29th of September in Bitola. This study, together with a documentary movie about Manaki brothers and an exhibition, is a result of 15-year-long research of the work of the two pioneers. The research was supported by ALDA, through the cooperation between Normandy and Macedonia.

Project ENLARGE launches a new deliberative event in Milan!
On October 16-17, project ENLARGE launches a new deliberative event in Milan. Delegates from local authorities, civil society organisations and private businesses will be present!

Representatives of the 30 selected practices on participatory processes in co-designing and co-producing policies in the sustainable energy fields will reunite on 16-17 October 2017 in Milan, Italy, to pool their knowledge and experience. The event will be a unique exchange opportunity, since 100 representatives of local authorities, civil society organisations, business sector and experts from all across Europe will directly participate in and contribute to the activity.
The project will support the participation of 3 representatives from each of the selected practices. Delegations will be preferably composed by one member from the public administration that promoted the process, either an elected official or a civil servant, one representative of the stakeholders involved (environmental groups, firms, citizens’ committees, ordinary citizens) and one practitioner who helped design and manage the process.
Participants will have the opportunity to discuss and produce a shared and reasoned assessment of the participatory processes at stake, in order to identify the factors and mechanisms that can explain their effectiveness (or lack of), sustainability and legitimacy. The event will also be a unique occasion for the development of the CYOA (Choose Your Own Adventure) book on citizen involvement on local sustainable energy policies.
ENLARGE is a 2-year project led by Istituto per la ricerca sociale (IRS) and funded by the European Union. The project aims to generate and disseminate shared, structured and constructive knowledge on participatory governance (co-design and co-production participatory processes) through an intense process of dialogue and communication among policy makers, civil society actors and practitioners.
ALDA participates as a partner to the realization of project ENLARGE.
