Let’s redistribute housework between men and women!

In the European Union, working women spend on average 26 hours/week on unpaid care and housework. Working men… 9 hours.

Why do men spend only one third of the time compared to women on activities such as cleaning, ironing, and taking care of their babies? And – most importantly – can we change that?

We can! Watch and share our video about work-life balance, join the fight for a better work-life balance!

***
ALDA is part of the project GET UP –  Gender Equality Training to overcome Unfair discrimination Practices in education and labour market, co-funded by the Rights, Equality and Citizenship programme of the European Union. The project tackles the stereotyping of educational and career choices, and promotes gender equality in education, training, career guidance and at the workplace.

Talent has no gender! Watch the video and join our fight for better education

When you were a child, have you ever been told to act like a girl (or a boy)?

ALDA and all partners of the project GET UP hope to delete this from all future conversations.

Gender stereotypes affect everyone since their birth. Often they are perpetuated without any intentions to harm. Despite all good intentions, children need to be supported in their individual growth, that they love rugby or volleyball, science or poetry.

ALDA joins the International Observatory on Participatory Democracy

ALDA has recently joined the network of International Observatory on Participatory Democracy (IODP). We are very glad to be part of this organisation that seeks to promote a more participatory democracy in our cities and in our country.

The IOPD is a space where one can share their experiences on participatory democracy in order to improve the governing of our cities and the quality of their democracies.

The subjects for work of the IOPD are citizen participation, open governments, participatory budgets, the initiatives of the deliberative and participatory democracy, and relations between the citizenship and governance in a broader sense.

ALDA will be shortly participate in the international annual IODP conference that will gather the elected officials, researchers and experts in citizen participation from all over the world. It will take place in Barcelona from November 25 to 28, 2018.

On this occasion, we reiterate, within the ALDA network, the call for good practices concerning the participatory democracy. The distinction “Good Practice in Citizen Participation” created by IODP that seeks to recognize the innovative experiences in this field, will be awarded in Barcelona.
