DESCRIPTION:\n\n\n\n\nThe Civic Engagement Conference organised under the EU4Accountability initiative, will serve as a platform for joint reflection and mutual learning between state and civil actors on the involvement of civil society in decision-making at all levels. Among others, participants will address the achievements and challenges in the implementation of the new Law on Access to Information of Public Interest, as a key instrument for facilitating public participation.\nThe Conference will bring together stakeholders from diverse sectors, including government representatives, CSOs, civic initiatives and citizens other interested parties. Through panel discussions, participants will explore the intricacies of bridging transparency policies with local governance and sustaining participatory mechanisms at the grassroots level. High-level dialogues will delve into the implications of recent legislative changes, such as the new Law on Access to Information, for citizen engagement and accountability.\nMoreover, the Conference provides a unique opportunity for project stakeholders to showcase their achievements and forge new partnerships for future collaborations, considering the achievements in establishing participatory mechanisms at the local levels in 10 districts of the Republic of Moldova. As project partners offer reflections on their experiences and outline pathways forward, attendees will be encouraged to actively contribute to the ongoing dialogue on promoting good governance and civic engagement in Moldova.\nThe first panel discussion with explore bridging transparency policies with local governance, featuring government and non-governmental representatives discussing the implications of the Law on Access to Information. The second pannel will focuse on sustaining participatory mechanisms and dialogue platforms at the local level, showcasing EU4Accountability’s pilot projects. Both panels aim to identify collaborative strategies for effective transparency, citizen engagement, and social accountability in governance practices.\nThe comprehensive agenda will be distributed in the coming weeks. In the interim, we kindly request your registration by May 15, 2024, to secure your place at the conference. Complimentary breakfast and lunches will be provided. Please note that transportation expenses for attendees will not be covered.\nEU4Accountability is funded by the European Union and implemented by the European Association for Local Democracy, the European Partnership for Democracy and People in Need Moldova.
