SUMMARY:Launching LDA-Belarus in Exile: Empowering Belarusian Civic Engagement in Europe
DESCRIPTION:On 30 October 2025, ALDA and EuroBelarus, with the support of the German Marshall Fund (GMF), host the LDA Belarus in Exile Launch in Vilnius, Lithuania. The LDA Belarus in Exile Launch marks the official introduction of a new initiative designed to empower Belarusian civic engagement in Europe, providing a structured space for dialogue, collaboration, and democratic participation among Belarusians living abroad.\nHeld at the Holiday Inn Hotel, the event brings together Belarusian civil-society representatives, Lithuanian civic actors, and European partners to discuss how to strengthen the democratic movement in exile. Vilnius, long considered the heart of Belarusian civic life outside the country, serves as the ideal location for this initiative that aims to connect diaspora communities with local democratic processes and European governance structures.\nThe conference will open with remarks by Antonella Valmorbida, ALDA Secretary General, and Tatiana Poshevalova, Director of EuroBelarus, followed by a presentation of the new initiative by Adrien Licha, ALDA’s Head of Secretariat. Two thematic roundtables will address (1) Belarusian voices in Vilnius and (2) opportunities for Belarusians to engage in local democracy in Lithuania.
