SUMMARY:European Autumn University 2025 – Debating Europe’s Sovereignty in Belfort
DESCRIPTION:From 6 to 9 November 2025, the European Autumn University will take place in Belfort, France, organised by the Mouvement Européen – France. The European Autumn University will gather citizens, experts, academics, and policymakers to debate Europe’s sovereignty, democratic resilience, and industrial competitiveness.\nSet in Belfort — a symbolic territory of reindustrialisation and innovation — this new edition focuses on the EU’s capacity to respond to global challenges while preserving its democratic values and economic independence. Supported by volunteers and local partners, the four-day programme combines public debates, thematic workshops, and training sessions addressing the major issues shaping Europe’s future.\nHighlights include:\n\n\n6 November: Opening panel on European food security and agricultural sovereignty, with speakers including Irène Tolleret (former MEP) and Sylvain Marmier (Crédit Agricole).\n\n\n7 November: Visits to the Citadel of Belfort and an evening conference on Europe’s industrial sovereignty, featuring Christophe Grudler, MEP and member of the ITRE Committee, and Sylvain Waserman, President of ADEME.\n\n\n8 November: Workshops and training sessions on economic and democratic sovereignty, followed by a plenary with Gwendoline Delbos-Corfield on protecting the rule of law.\n\n\nEvening of 8 November: Closing debate on Europe’s digital sovereignty, featuring Sandro Gozi, MEP and Secretary-General of the European Democratic Party.\n\n\nOrganised with the financial support of the European Parliament, the event promotes open dialogue between citizens and European decision-makers.\nParticipation is open to the public, and several sessions are free of charge.\n🔗 For registration and details, visit the Mouvement Européen official event page.  ALDA was also present in last year’s edition ( https://www.alda-europe.eu/events/autumn-university-2024/ ).\n📍Belfort, France\n📆 6–9 November 2025\n
