SUMMARY:GENESIS Citizens Engagement Event – Building Climate-Resilient Communities in La Palma
DESCRIPTION:\n\nFrom 27 to 29 November 2025, the GENESIS ( https://www.alda-europe.eu/projects/genesis/ ) Citizens Engagement Event will take place in La Palma, Spain, bringing together citizens, experts, and local authorities to discuss how to build more sustainable and climate-resilient communities. The GENESIS Citizens Engagement Event forms part of the GENESIS project, which promotes green innovation, nature-based solutions, and citizen participation in environmental governance across Europe.\nOrganised by ALDA and project partners under the coordination of Ginevra Gatti, this event aims to foster dialogue between local actors, environmental practitioners, and educational institutions on how to co-create practical responses to climate change at community level. A special meeting with local schools and representatives will also take place on 27 November, in connection with the BlueLightS project, highlighting the importance of environmental education and youth engagement in protecting marine and coastal ecosystems.\nDuring the event, participants will exchange best practices on nature-based adaptation, explore how citizen science can support local decision-making, and learn how to strengthen resilience through inclusive governance. The sessions will include participatory discussions, field visits, and workshops focused on sustainable island development, renewable energy, and circular economy approaches.\nBy combining citizen participation, local knowledge, and scientific expertise, the initiative contributes to the European Green Deal’s objectives and supports the transition towards climate-neutral and resilient territories.\nTo learn more about EU environmental cooperation and research programmes, visit the European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency (CINEA).\n\n\n📍La Palma, Spain\n📆 27–29 November 2025\n \n \n
