SUMMARY:Launch Event – Shared Green Societies: Connecting Communities for a Fair and Inclusive Green Transition
DESCRIPTION:Save the date! On 28 January 2026 the Shared Green Societies Forum will launch in Brussels at TownHall Europe (11:00 – 18:00). The launch event offers an interactive and collaborative space for reflection and action on achieving a green transition that is inclusive, just, and supported by citizens across Europe.\nThe forum builds on the SHARED GREEN DEAL project, and ALDA is leading the development of this innovative and new forum in Europe! The event will bring together civil society, local and regional authorities, researchers from the Social Sciences and Humanities (SSH), and policymakers to connect practice, policy, and research, while co-creating the Forum’s next steps. Participants will share experiences, explore innovative approaches, and define shared priorities for advocacy, collaboration, and community-led green initiatives.\nThe event will open with a keynote conversation by Astrid Ladefoged, Deputy to the Director and Head of the Green Transitions Unit at the European Commission’s DG Research and Innovation, followed by sessions celebrating local “Champions,” interactive policy advocacy workshops, and a Collaboration Hub showcasing projects and initiatives aligned with the Forum’s mission. The day will conclude with the evening policy panel debate “Shaping the next European research and innovation framework”, hosted by Friends of Europe on behalf of the SSH CENTRE, on the future role of research and innovation in the green and digital transitions.\nThe full programme is available here.\nParticipation is free and open to all interested stakeholders, including civil society actors, local authorities, NGOs, and research centres. The working language will be English, and lunch, coffee breaks, and a drinks reception will be provided.\n Register here!\nParticipation is possible in-person and online (although a limited number of sessions will be available online).\nTownHall Europe\n 28 January 2026\n
