ALDA is proud to report about an active stance of Patras Municipality (Greece) in ARRIVAL CITIES project. Patras Municipality, member of ALDA, confirms its commitment in supporting the values of democracy and citizen participation at local level.

Patras ULG met on 3rd November 2016 to monitor and plan futher the implementation of “ARRIVAL CITIES” project. Discussion was focused on providing information about the 1st thematic workshop that took place in Dresden (21-23 Sept 2016) containing important best practices benefiting social cohesion. The exchange included evaluation of the event and ideas for the upcoming future thematic workshop.
The project leaflet was presented and handed out. The 1st newsletter of the project has been distributed and discussed, putting emphasis on presentation included about Patras initiative within “European Local Democracy Week 2016” as a example on local synergy benefiting anti-discrimination and equality within an inclusive society. Participants were urged to subscribe themselves and to encourage colleagues and friends to join the newsletter of the project and to participate into its facebook and twitter groups that would really help to active exchange, promotion and cooperation.
Furthermore, Patras ULG members emphasized on the organization of the local event in the city aiming to presenting the “ARRIVAL CITIES” project and to launching the design of the local action plan as an open process to all interested bodies wishing to contribute.
The project re-emphasises an active memebrship of Patras in the “Intercultural Cities-ICC” network of the Council of Europe and “ALDA – the European Association of Local Democracy” as well as “Forum of Adriatic & Ionian Cities-FAIC”. City’s engagement gives  a diversity advantage to apply democratic values in practice.
