At the beginning of this week, ALDA took part the First regional meeting of the EU Inter-institutional Steering Group on Civil Society on 30 and 31 March 2014 at the Dead Sea in Jordan on the topics of Mechanisms of Dialogue for Civil Society. The meeting was organised by the European External Action Service and Civil Society Facility in the Mediterranean with the aim to develop a structured regional dialogue between European Union institutions, governments and civil society in the boths sides of the Mediterranean.

This initiative was launched by the Commissioner Füle at the Anna Lindh Foundation Forum in April 2013 where ALDA was also present (see more under this link). This regional meeting aimed to construct a dialogue platform on media, but also and foremost on governance mechanisms and training of civil society and authorities. The proposals that will come up from this meeting will be taken up at a major civil society event in Brussels on 29th-30th April – the EU Southern Neighbourhood Forum.

ALDA was represented by Biljana Zasova, Head of Programme Implementation Unit and in charge of the Working group on Euro-Mediterranean Cooperation in ALDA.
