Workshop 1: “Metropolitan governments shaping EU Urban policy”
The workshop will take place on 11 October in Brussels at the premises of Apulia Region, Rue du Trone 62, from 11 am to 1 pm.
The event will gather EU, national, regional and local policy/decision makers, authorities managing and evaluating cohesion policy programmes and projects, private companies, financial institutions, European and national associations, in order to debate about the role of metropolitan governments in today’s Europe.
In this context, a metropolitan dimension for EU urban policy becomes a relevant solution: challenges such as mobility, environmental quality, governance, and territorial cohesion are often best dealt with a metropolitan approach.
This debate will reflect on key metropolitan priorities and contribute with concrete ideas for a metropolitan European Agenda.

This event is a key step of an exciting project that provides young people and policy makers with an innovative tool to promote their cooperation and improve youth policies at local, regional, national and European level. It will be a tool aiming to reduce the gap between youths and policy makers, let local and regional authorities improve the youth involvement within their communities, help participants to find information, inspiration and take youth friendly initiatives in their regions.
