The President Oriano Otočan, the Governing Board, the Secretary General Antonella Valmorbida, and all the staff of ALDA want to express the deep sadness and the sincere condolences to all French members and friends of ALDA for the attack of 14 July in Nice.

***
This is just the latest tragedy within the complex and particularly sensitive frame of Europe. A symbolically and practically cruel crime inflicted in a specific occasion, on a specific day: the 14 July, the celebration of freedom, brotherhood and equality, main pillars of the French of Republic, as well as of the EU. Citizens are the first affected by this cruel and senseless violence, and the institutions are constantly struggling to ensure safety. Terrorism is a threat to freedom, to democracy, to human rights and tolerance.
ALDA has been supporting those values in all its activities, with the desire of living together in a free and tolerant society. We renew our commitment to daily work on these values, and we will certainly support cities and regions to respond to the situation with determination and strength, assisting them in these difficult times.
Our Association knows which are the results of war and violence, since we experienced them in many of the places where our activities are run, and that is why cooperation and conflicts’ resolution are still key actions in our vision.
