Mrs Valmorbida, in her capacity of Chief of Mission, led the training activities in Algeria focused on local participative democracy, good governance and citizens’ involvement, these being ALDA’s core values. These actions involved 225 Presidents of Communes across 5 different training centres of the country.

This represented a major investment from the Direction of Training and Education of the line Ministry for Participative Democracy and followed a previous intervention that, in 2017, trained and prepared on the same subject 180 more civil servants.

The impact of these initiatives is becoming more and more considerable as the change brought about starts to be systemic. Moreover, the feedback from all the stakeholders has been extremely positive and this will lead to a continued effort for the upcoming year 2019.
