Within the framework of synergies with ALDA, the InterCultural Cities-ICC and many other stakeholders, Patras Municipality organises a series of events in the sectors of education, culture, justice-law, media and civil society, with main theme “Living together in culturally diverse societies: respect, dialogue, interaction”.

Patras activities within the European Local Democracy Week 2016, coordinated by the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe, aim to address the principles of building inclusive societies. Starting on 11 October, experimental seminars and workshops will cover various topics that contribute into respect, dialogue and solidarity when living together in culturally diverse societies.
Among the many activities we want to mention:
- Narration of intercultural stories to students of elementary education aiming at revealing common cultural heritage;
- Workshop on creative writing / The language as means of intercultural communication through poems and songs (representation of migrant associations and cultural bodies);
- Seminar for police officers about anti-discrimination and solidarity.
All activities are based on participatory approach and will give a great extent of opportunities for intercultural education.
Patras Municipality is member of ALDA since 2009, and always showed a particular commitment towards local democracy and good governance.
