Dear members and friends,

The first meeting of the Governing Board of ALDA in 2015 was held on 5 and 6 February, hosted in the Town Hall of Camden Borough Council, in London. As usual, the agenda was extremely packed.

I am pleased to say that the activity program of the Association and budget for the year were approved. Furthermore, the Board formalized ALDA support as co-founder for the upcoming Local Democracy Agency in Dnipropetrovsk, Ukraine; the membership to the network of COHEIRS Italy was approved, as well as to the European Partnership for Democracy (EPD).

Thanks to Governing Board members, who spend their time, effort and expertise in setting higher and higher objectives, ALDA is ready to achieve those objectives.

On a wall in the town hall, a picture was hanging. It stated “Unity is strength”. Not only made it me reflect on the European Union, for whose values of democracy we need to keep doing what we are doing, but also on the reality of ALDA. The Association strength lies in our network of active members, now over 170 from more than 35 countries, and in constant evolution. Many of them have been working with us for several years, and are now living with us new challenges and adventure.

For all the members, the General Assembly is confirmed in Montenegro on 7,8 and 9 May, with a great challenge – to revise the Stategic three-year-plan of ALDA.

The only thing that is constant is change, Heraclitus said. But as long as we keep working together as a whole, we can face any changes!
