An app as a revolution for disabled individuals
The European project Mind Inclusion 2.0 continues with its 3rd co-design session organized during the last week of September 2019. This new workshop session gathered individuals with cognitive disabilities, caregivers, professionals, and managers of public places. Together, they were invited to try out the first version of the app.
While using the app, participants were able to progress at their own pace, and they also provided constructive feedback. One of the participants of the workshop held in Valladolid said, "It seems to be a good idea for going out and trying out new places". This type of feedback strengthens the idea that the app could become a real independence tool for disabled individuals.
The goal of Mind Inclusion is to help people with disabilities with overcoming obstacles when accessing public places through technology. This project, funded by the European Union’s programme, aims to find sustainable and inclusive solutions that help caregivers improve their skills, on one hand, and allow disabled individuals to participate in the social life on another.
The project has reached a new milestone. After one year, actions for the disabled individuals and their caregivers were designed and implemented. However, more actions for providing access to public places to individuals with cognitive disabilities are needed. And they are coming.
