Youth from Zavidovici learn about sustainability
LDA Zavidovici, ALDA’s member, was a partner in the project „Transition Youth: several suggestions for a new active citizenship“, which is funded by the EU as a part of the European Comission’s platform Youth in Action.
As a part of this project, four young people and one team leader from Zavidovici participated in a youth exchange that took place in Torino, Italy, in the period form October 26th to November 5th 2013. The event was hosted by „Cooperativa Isola“ from Italy, and, besides Italy and BiH, participants came from Croatia, Serbia, Portugal, and Poland.
Two representatives of the LDA Zavidovici have visited Torino during September in order to agree on important issues and prepare everything that is needed for the exchange to be succesful, together with other partners. The topic of the exchange was the the evoking of a modern transitional lifestyle, in the form of a Transition Place, refering to many aspects of this topic – permaculture, sustainable development, upcycling, energy traps etc.
A Transition Place is where there’s a community-led process that helps that town/village/city/neighbourhood to become stronger and happier. It’s happening in well over a thousand highly different communities across the world – from towns in Australia to neighbourhoods in Portugal, from cities in Brazil to rural communities in Slovenia, from urban locations in Britain to islands off the coast of Canada. These communities have started up projects in areas of food, transport, energy, education, housing, waste, arts etc., as small-scale local responses to the global challenges of climate change, economic hardship and shrinking supplies of cheap energy. Together, these small-scale responses make up something much bigger, and help show the way forward for governments, business and the rest of us.
The participants of the exchange were happy to be introduced to new ideas of sustainability, and LDA Zavidovici hopes for new opportunities for this kind of cooperation.

InArco seminar - Information actions for cooperation regarding cross-border workers in Alpine arch countries
On Thursday, 17 October, the third seminar “Information actions for cooperation regarding cross-border workers in Alpine arch countries”organised by UIL within the project ‘InArco, of which ALDA is a partner, was held in Ljubljana.
At this event participated Giancarlo Dente of Fondazione Brodolini; he presented an analysis entitled ‘The cross border work between reality and recognition’
The aim of the seminar was to provide a series of recommendations and indications to rule the phenomenon of cross-border workers, ensuring them the full respect of the non-discrimination principle.

Training course on social media and democracy, 27 Nov - 5 Dec, Armenia
The training course ‘Democratic Movements and Social Media’ will be hosted by YCCD NGO in Dilijan, Armenia, from 27 November to 5 December. It will be dedicated to the role and influence of social media in democratization process in Europe.
Looking at the Arab spring in 2011, social media played an important role in fostering the impact of democratic grass-root movements. Similarly civil initiatives in Eastern Europe e.g. Armenia and Georgia are widely using Web 2.0 tools to bypass censorship in order to bring their messages and demands for change to the public.
ALDA is looking for two participants. They have to be French, or resident in France. Travel expenses for the participants are covered up to 70%, accommodation and board are fully covered.

Second international event of the project REACTION
On 14 – 15 October, the second international event of the project REACTION, funded by the Europe for Citizens programme, took place in Marghita, Romania. The topic of the three – day event, “Citizens as a resource for the development of local communities” was aimed to reflect on the concept that citizens, through their active commitment, can represent a resource for the development of their communities.
Through non-formal methods like the Open Space Technology, and practical work into thematic groups, the international delegations had the chance to share experiences and best practices and to come up with new ideas to improve and reinforce the role of citizens as main actors for positive change and local development.
Delegations from 12 different countries, representing the partner organizations, gathered in Marghita. Local experts who brought their experience in the field of active citizenship enriched the event.
Anna Ditta and Aldo Xhani, from ALDA, provided the technical support to the event, in cooperation with the lead applicant, the municipality of Sacile, represented by Mrs. Arianna Zanini.
