Despite the difficult current circumstances, ALDA keeps supporting local economic development in Europe and its enlarged neighbourhood with concrete proposals and actions.
In the framework of these continued efforts, on Thursday April 23rd, 2020, a Steering Committee meeting took place online on the topic of the “Citizens’ Voice and Actions on Local Development in Consolidated Communities in Armenia».
The meeting saw the proactive participation of representatives of the EU Delegation to Armenia as well as the Communities Finance Officers Associations (CFOA); Union of Communities of Armenia (CAA); LDA Arménie; and a number of expert representatives from ALDA.
The Steering Committee aimed to select 7 from a list of 10 shortlisted mid-scale projects that would benefit of grants of 8,000 – 10,000 euro.
With the implementation area of the projects being the Shirak, Tavush and Lori regions of Armenia, a total of 27 applications were received from different inter-community groups, all focusing on putting in practice territorial approaches to local development, particularly with regards to promoting tourism and outdoor activities.
All final beneficiaries of the grants are local NGOs registered in Armenia, which ALDA will support by managing their cooperation with their EU counterparts (i.e. local or regional authorities) during the implementation phase of the projects. Thanks to ALDA’s intervention, besides, 5 to 7 EU-based municipality representatives will provide coaching to the Armenian NGOs through monthly distance consultations and a potential study visit on the spot.
"Citizens’ Voice and Actions on Local Development in Consolidated Communities in Armenia” is a 3-year project funded by the European Union.
