The Vice President of ALDA Alessandro Perelli met in Trieste at the Regional Assembly the Councillor Andrea Ussai, member of the Committee on International Cooperation. Michela Vogrig, President of CosmE, consortium of social cooperatives and member of ALDA, was also present.

The theme of the serious and worrying situation that has been created in Bihać, Bosnia and Herzegovina, where in the heights on the border with Croatia, tens of thousands of migrants are in desperate conditions, crammed into dilapidated refugee camps with disastrous sanitary conditions.

Councillor Ussai witnessed this directly during an institutional visit to the city of Bihać where he met the local authorities. The Vice President of ALDA, Alessandro Perelli, expressed the interest of the Association to intervene, in accordance with its mission of promotion of European values, in front of a state of affairs that offends the dignity of human beings and is likely to worsen further, given the progressive increase of migration flows along the Balkan route.

Perelli also undertook to report to the Board of Directors of ALDA on the evolution of the situation. For her part, Michela Vogrig announced the interest of CosmE, which already works alongside Caritas in Bosnia and Serbia, to develop its action in the field of social cooperation in these territories.
