The Association of Local Democracy Agencies (ALDA), in strong cooperation with the Euro Mediterranean Scientific and Biomedical Institute (ISBEM) and ASD Mesagne Volley successfully completed the EU project TOlerance in Youth Sport – TOYS that took place in Apulia Region from 12 to 19 January.

The international training, granted by the European Commission under the programme Youth in Action, brought together 47 participants from 9 different countries in wider Europe. The aim of the activity was to share good practices on how to tackle racism and discrimination in sport by promoting social inclusion and integration, volunteering and active citizenship among young people.

TOYS was an opportunity to provide the participants with new skills and ideas on how to increase the quality and capacity of youth work when dealing with racism and tolerance in youth sport. The activity was also an occasion for widely showcasing the new 2014-2020 programme for education, training, youth and sport Erasmus+, as well as for triggering debate on the European Parliament elections in May 2014. A wide dissemination trough local medias such as the Mesagne web journal as well as national TV channels as Rai 3 was key to ensure a strong impact on the whole Region.
