An Italian delegation started their journey to Bosnia and Herzegovina on 15 May 013, in order to mark the memory of one dramatic page of modern European history. The goal was not to forget Sergio Lana, Fabio Moreni, Guido Puletti, and many other volunteers who are still on Balkans with the locals, and to confirm the story of friendship and solidarity between Italian territories and the Zavidovici Municipality, as good practices in international cooperation of local communities.
The delegation consisted of representatives of the Italian provinces Brescia, Cremona and Alba, who are included in the projects of cooperation and solidarity through the Local democracy agency Zavidovici. There were also the representatives of local authorities from Italy, NGO’s and individuals, among others: Local authorities for peace from Cremona, Luigi Amore – Assistant Mayor of Cremona, Davide Viola – Mayor of Gadesco Pieve Delmona, Rosolino Azzali – Mayor of Corte de’ Frati, Mario Bazzani Mayor of Torre de’ Picenardi, Dalido Malaggi – Mayor of Pessina Cremonese, Paola Intrieri – Municipality Councelor in Romanengo, Franco Foglino – Municipality Councelor in Alba, Luciano Pedersini – Assistant Mayor of Roncadelle.
The delegation was welcomed on 16th of May by the Municipality authorities from Zavidovici, and local community Kovaci, where the Municipalities of Cremona Province have helped the reconstruction of Culture house, and assisted to the realisation of numerous projects, like the ones for agriculture development.
On Friday in Gornji Vakuf – Uskoplje there was be a comemoration service to remember the tragic events of May 29th 1993, on this occasion, the president of LDA Zavidovici and one of two persons who survived this, Agostino Zanotti, together with local authorities from Zavidovici and Gornji Vakuf and the Italian Embassy, placed the memorial made by Piero Canotti, with the epigraph by Giacomo Scotti, dedicated to the memory of friends who lost their lives. On Saturday, a visit to Sarajevo took plaace, together with local intelectuals and architects who survived the siege of the city in the preiod 1992-1995.
