The Local Democracy Agency of Dnipropetrovsk Region and the city of Dnipro are implementing a joint programme coordinating the activities of the different neighbourhoods of the city, and to improve service provision to citizens.
Dnipro, who joined the network of ALDA as a member in 2017, is the third largest city of Ukraine, with one million inhabitants, organised in 8 neighborhoods. The work between these different neighborhoods is facilitated by a programme that the Local Democracy Agency designed and carried out. The local team will contribute to this project in order to improve local governance and provisions of services to the citizens, therefore improving effectiveness and efficiency.
This project represents an added value and a good example for the LDA, since it is supported by the budget of the city and has potentiallity of future cooperation. This project, together with other projects and initiatives aimed at improving the quality of life in the city fo Dnipro and its region, have been discussed during the visit of the Secretary General of ALDA, Antonella Valmorbida. ALDA has been invited to attend the celebrations of Dnipro day on 9 September. The international delegations were hosted by the city of Dnipro and included guests from Kutaisi (Georgia), a city which is also member of ALDA and hosting the LDA Georgia.
“I think that the cooperation between our team of the LDA of Dnipropetrovsk Region and the Delegate, Angelika Pilipenko, is really an added value for such an important city, like Dnipro. Our cooperation creates a number of opportunities for social and economic growth and for supporting the European aspiration of this part of Ukraine, so close to the occupied area in the Donbass”, said Mrs. Valmorbida.
Next week, in Gdańsk, Poland, there will be a coordination meeting for the opening of the future LDA Mariupol, that would become the second Local Democracy Agency in Ukraine.
