Successful visit of the Polish delegation from the Kujavsko-Pomorskie Voivodship Region to Georgia’s Imereti Region: starting new partnerships between the two regions, and between the Polish region, ALDA and LDA Georgia.

***

With the initiative of the Vice President of ALDA, Ms Imka Gorska, the delegation from Kujavsko-Pomorskie Voivodship Region of Poland recently visited Georgia to meet the representatives of Imereti Region and get more acquainted with the work of the LDA Georgia.

The Polish delegation met the Governor of the Imereti Region of Georgia to agree on the partnership between the two regions. One of the reasons of forming partnership is that one of the Polish Presidents, Mr Wladyslaw Raczkiewicz was born on the 28 January 1885 in Kutaisi, Imereti region, Georgia and baptized in one of the churches in Imereti. The monument of the president Wladyslaw Raczkiewicz is standing in front of the hall of the Kujavian and Pomeranian Region.

The polish delegation also met the head of the municipal cultural centre where they saw a fantastic performance of the local folk group. Delegations of both countries agreed to meet in Autumn and organise a promotional event of Imereti region in Poland, in Kujavsko-Pomorskie Voivodship Region.

Another main reason of the visit was to establish cooperation between the Polish region and ALDA and LDA Georgia.  The delegation met both the new and old delegates of the LDA, Ms Nino Tvaltvadze and Mr Soso Khakhaleishvili. Georgian partners of the LDA Georgia were also present during the meeting.

Having positive experiences on the ground, an action plan is  now being prepared on how to proceed with the partnerships with ALDA, LDA Georgia and between the two regions.

The polish delegation consisted of the Head of the Kujavian and Pomeranian Region Mr. Piotr Calbecki, the Plenipotentiary of the Regional Board Mr. Grzegorz Borek, the President of the Committee on Promotion and Foreign Cooperation of the Region Mr. Jozef Rogacki (a members to ALDA’s Scientific Committee), The President of the Platforma Obywatelska Regional Board Mr. Marek Nowak And Imka Gorska, Vice President of ALDA.
