The event was called “Democracy UK: Global Values in an Uncertain World”. In its frame, Mrs Valmorbida facilitated the Security and Stability panel within the Democracy Assistance Marketplace.

“I am really satisfied I attended the 25, anniversary of the Westminster Foundation for Democracy, thus developing together strategies for common actions. We are convinced that their work, together with ours, is fundamental. Democracy is an instrument to deliver prosperity, equity, and security. It is made of actions, transparent institutions as well as efficient administration, at the national and local level. Citizens are a key component of the functioning of democratic processes every day, not only during elections. The celebration was a true source of inspiration and energy for all participants, to further strengthen our commitment”, said Mrs Valmorbida.

The Westminster Foundation for Democracy was founded in 1992 with the aim of promoting sustainable political change in emerging democracies by not only strengthening their administrative and political institutions, but also by promoting political participation amongst the civil society, by encouraging the protection of free media outlets and by supporting the prerogatives of trade unions all over the world. WFD is a Board member of European Partnership for Democracy.

The annual WFD conference is a focal point for international policy makers. Here, the know-how on how to build strong, democratic cultures is shared by and among politicians and professionals and contemporary challenges to democracy are analyzed in-detail.
