30 representatives of the WTD Working Together for Development project, partners, coming from more than 10 different countries attended a training session organised by ALDA in the framework of the project.

To develop new educational tools and training activities to support young people’s personal and professional development needs in order to access the labour market and their develop entrepreneurship competences.

Within the ALDA Prince project “Civil Trust Building – Find Your Way through the Enlargement Labyrinth”, has been launched an internship programme in the EU.

The Albanian Association of Municipalities will organise a two-days international conference entitled “The Role of the Local Government Authorities Units in Offering Social Services – Ageing” in Tirana on 9th and 10th May 2012.

The ALDA project TIC-TAC (Training, Information, Cooperation – Towards Active Citizenship) is deeply entering in its second step with the organisation by partners of numerous local Info-days during the following month.

On 2 and 3 March 2012, RECREATURA arts&culture, organised the first workshop within the ALDA project “VIT” concerning “Volunteering in times of crisis”.

On 26 January 2012 the European Commission organised the launching conference for the European Citizens’ Initiative in Brussels. The ECI, the first participatory democracy instrument on EU level, will be in force from April 1 in all 27 member states.

The Steering Committee of the Civil Society Forum for Eastern Partnership met in Brussels on the 14th and 15th of July 2011 and had also a meeting with Commissioner Stefan Fuele to decide about further steps for cooperation.

On July 12 ALDA together with the Union of Communities of Armenia will organise a workshop on Local Self-government and citizen participation in Armenia.

In the next three years ALDA will be in charge to coordinate and organise local public events (including theatre performances) in France, Belgium, Serbia and Croatia within the project “CARAVAN. Artists on the Road”.

With a delay in the delivery of visas the Belarusian authorities tried to stop the meeting of the Steering Committee of the Civil Society Forum for Eastern Partnership that was scheduled in Minsk on the 4th and 5th of April 2011.

The second edition of the European Assises of decentralised cooperation for development was held in Brussels on March 29-30.

The final conference of the Cards’ project, “Regional partnerships for intercultural exchange“ will be held in Mostar (Hotel Ero) from 30th of March to 2nd of April.

ALDA is preparing an Evaluation Report on Active Citizenship. This report will include a detailed description of ALDA’s concept, methodology and activities concerning Active Citizenship.

The Department of International Cooperation of Brindisi Municipality, in collaboration with the local office of ALDA, has launched a communication campaign on active citizenship and international cooperation.

ALDA General Assembly 2011 will take place on 8th and 9th of July in Bydgoszcz, Poland.

To promote citizens’ participation in the construction of a tighter-knit, democratic, world-oriented and united Europe, tackling the challenge of immigration as an “opportunity” to develop active citizenship and sense of ownership of the EU.

The Lisbon Treaty is not and will not be only a piece of paper. It is an instrument to make EU institutions more democratic, giving citizens more space for active participation
