It will start with a presentation of indirect (or structural) funds, managed at ministerial or regional level, where companies are among the main beneficiaries of their various measures (ESF, ERDF, etc.).
Subsequently, starting from the second meeting, there will be a jump into Europe, opening the chapter of direct funds, or those managed by the European Commission. In the second meeting will be presented some programs that aim to support actions in the field of training, culture, labor, tourism, economic development, Industry 4.0, digitalization, and many other topics. Finally, the third meeting will be dedicated exclusively to the key program for research, the Horizon 2020, an excellent driver – being the richest program ever – to support the development of enterprises through actions of applied research and support for innovation. ALDA and Network 33 have created a constructive synergy on these issues by merging two fundamental aspects: skills and knowledge. This synergy was created to give a complete answer to companies that have projects and are looking for financial support for their development.
The objective of ALDA (European Association for Local Democracy) is to promote good governance and citizen participation at the local level, addressing local challenges from a transnational perspective through the development of projects and actions of training and technical assistance. Rete 33 is a network of professionals who work side by side with entrepreneurs and business managers to provide concrete solutions aimed at process, product, marketing and communication innovation: creating projects, supporting clients and finding the right solutions.

Long live Europe! 55th anniversary of the Elysée Treaty: "Franco-German friendship can only exist within the European Union".
The strengthening of Franco-German cooperation contributes to the revival of European construction. While security and defense reforms are necessary, as well as new investments to strengthen the euro zone, it is above all essential to return to the founding principle of the European ambition: a common project at the service of its citizens.
The Presidents of the European Movement in France and Germany, Yves Bertoncini and Dr. Rainer Wend, welcome the resolutions adopted today by the German National Assembly and Bundestag on the occasion of the 55th anniversary of the Elysée Treaty. According to them, “Germany and France must, however, take greater account of their neighbors by giving the Treaty a more European dimension. Franco-German cooperation must be a driving force for consolidating European democracy and its institutions in a context of crisis; under no circumstances should these two countries ignore their neighbors or even marginalize them. »
Today, in both our countries, we must defend a pluralist and democratic society, because this is the only way to stem the advance of nationalist and populist currents.
“The Franco-German motor is essential for the revival of European construction. It must look at the world and lead all the countries of the European Union to make it more efficient, more united and more democratic,” says Yves Bertoncini.
The German and French parliaments are thus calling – and rightly so – for the launch of “citizen consultations to promote democratic and transnational cooperation”.
According to Yves Bertoncini, “our citizens have a major role to play in shaping the Union in which they wish to live. We welcome the organization of citizens’ consultations and intend to participate in the emergence of projects for a common future while reducing the dividing lines that divide Europeans. »
To ensure that these consultations do not amount to a media stunt, the bar of requirements must be set high and the population fully involved in the most representative way possible, for example by applying the principle of drawing lots – at both local and European level.
“In addition to citizen consultations, a structured political dialogue must be promoted with all social and democratic forces, including civil society actors, social partners and associations,” adds Dr. Rainer Wend.

Getting Tunisian women at the heart of the upcoming local elections

Long-delayed local elections in Tunisia will be held in May 2018. In February, ALDA will start trainings on election cycle for Tunisian women. Trainings will be delivered in six governorates – namely Gasfa, Kairouan, Grand Tunis, Jendouba, Kebili, and Mahdia, and will highligh the interdependence of different phases and actions before, during and following the election, thus showing women the opportunities for involvement during the whole electoral cycle, and encouraging them to play an active role.
These trainings are part of the project PARFAIT, kicked-off in Tunis in November 2017 and teaming up ALDA, the European Partnership for Democracy – EPD, and Coalition pour les Femmes de Tunisie. The project aims at increasing women participation at local level by giving them the means to fully access the public sphere – as voters and candidates, but also as empowered, informed and involved citizens, thus ensuring the ongoing decentralization process will be a success for every single citizen.

Voices from the future - Theatre of the oppressed in Skopje

The VOICES FROM THE FUTURE project aims to touch upon the existent inequalities and unfairness in societies that are experiencing a harsh economic and political transition towards the democracy after years of authoritarian regime. A Western Balkan country – The Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia shares a similar destiny with its neighbours characterised by divisions which have a strong impact on the individual’s place in a society. Growing social and economic inequalities have led to visible dividing lines between the winners and the losers of the transition, the oppressors and the oppressed. The Social Community Theatre approach combining interventions from both civil society and cultural associations tackles the present social context in order to help open up perspectives for a better future. This event will rely on the three theatrical forms of the THEATRE OF THE OPRESSED of Augusto Boal, especially focusing on Forum theatre, thus providing a wide range of empowerment tools for the vulnerable groups in local communities in Skopje and other cities across the country.
The CARAVAN Next MICRO EVENT programme will start with lectures and workshops that will introduce the local public to the Theatre of the oppressed by Augusto Boal, the Brazilian theatre director, playwright, theoretician, author, educator, and politician. The three basic categories of the Theatre of the oppressed will be analysed: Theatre of images, Invisible theatre, and Forum theatre. These approaches, constantly overlapping and providing space for the thematic interconnectivity will be applied to address four key challenges through the main topics of the entire MICRO event Skopje: 1) Theatre for Building bridges of dialogue; 2) Welcome to reality; 3) Human rights vs. oppression; 4) Civic culture for change.
The lectures, workshops and theatre performances will last for four days (14-18 March 2018) and will be held at KINO KULTURA http://www.kinokultura.org.mk and other locations in Skopje and in other cities. The participants will be invited to apply through an online registration system for interactive workshops and public debates. The performances of the actors, which will follow the workshops, will be held at different locations and in proximity of communities experiencing discrimination. Some of the locations will be announced beforehand, while others will be held without any prior announcement and will be implemented in the pure format of the Theatre of the oppressed (Invisible theatre).
The main partners in organising the MICRO EVENT in Skopje are the ALDA Office in Skopje (www.alda-europe.eu, Theatre Navigator Cvetko (http://www.kinokultura.org.mk/category/theatre-navigator-cvetko) and Lokomotiva – Center for New Initiatives in Arts and Culture (http://old.lokomotiva.org.mk).
The workshops and theatre events will be facilitated by Prof. Zoja Buzalkovska, Professor of Acting at the Faculty of Dramatic Arts in Skopje, theatre director and journalist.
