This month, ALDA joins the renowned network of French organizations Euromed (REF). The REF brings together some 40 French civil society organizations (associations, collectives and trade unions) in the countries of the Mediterranean. The important involvement of ALDA in the Mediterranean region, through its projects and partnerships, will contribute jointly to the REF actions aimed at contributing to the respect for human rights, gender equality and the right of peoples to self-determination, through the exchange of practices and the reflection with the other members of the network.
On the occasion of this union, ALDA has joined the Steering Committee of the “Jeunesses Méditerranéennes” program, which will take place in April in Tunis. This event, organized annually by the REF, is articulated around intergenerational meetings of civil society dealing with various topics, in particular, that of the employment, the citizen participation, the migrations, the art and the culture, but still of social and climate justice.
This major event is a continuation of the first meetings that took place in Paris (October 2015), Casablanca (April 2017) and Algiers (April 2018), which brought together more than 70 CSOs representatives from all the countries of the Mediterranean. ALDA is very pleased to be now part of the REF, being aware of its impact in the region, and looks forward to working with its stakeholders in the search for more just, democratic and inclusive spaces.
