ALDA will bring in its perspective on how to promote citizen participation in public and political life in all key events organised in Brussels this week. On 15th June, Aldo Xhani is attending the Civil Dialogue meeting where participants discuss the policy developments related to the Citizenship portfolio and the “Europe for Citizens” Programme.

This event will be followed by the annual Civil Society Day, which is taking place on the 16th June. This year`s event, which holds a title “Civil dialogue: a tool for better legislation in the general interest” aims at laying down principles and guidelines for a permanent and structured civil dialogue at European level. The works of the conference is based on the Road Map that was adopted at the NGO Forum in Riga in March 2015 and focuses on how to implement it through specific actions.

ALDA also regularly follows the events on European Citizens’ Initiative and will be present on the conference titled as “The European citizens` initiative and the promise of participatory democracy” on the 16th June. The aim of the conference is to inform about ECI, analyze its weaknesses and place the instrument in the broader context of European participatory democracy and growing citizen expectations for more direct involvement in public policy, including via digital platforms.
