Europeans are able to freely cross the borders of twenty-six European countries. The freedom of movement has become an inseparable part of being an EU citizen. But what are the obstacles that citizens that are living in another EU countries face when trying to exercise their political rights? How can local authorities ensure full integration of the so-called “Eu mobile citizens” in the political life of the hosting community?

These, among others, will be the topics that you will be able to discuss together with other local authorities, civil society organizations and citizens at the FairEU event in Caen, Francia, on May 15th.

After an introduction from ALDA’s Secretary General and the Representative of Normandy Region, an expert will present the current state of political rights of EU mobile citizens and the outcomes of some relevant experiences developed in the framework of FairEU project such as crowdsourcing citizens opinions and mobilizing EU mobile citizens for Brussels local elections will be presented. After that, a special world café and a round table will provide a comfortable and informal environment to exchange best practices regarding the political inclusion of EU mobile citizens, reflect together on barriers and opportunities and identify the solutions that best adapt to their local context. At the end of the session, a buffet cocktail will wait for the participants.

Looking forward to seeing you in Caen!
