On 18th April 2015, the Union of Bulgarian Black Sea Local Authorities – UBBSLA – will launch the testing phase of the project DECIDE in Varna, Bulgaria. UBBSLA initiates the process to raise youg people’s awareness and to foster their active participation in the local community life in Varna. The aim is to educate and motivate young people, aged between 15-17, to demonstrate their understanding and ownership of the EU democratic life in a participatory approach.
The practice to be tested during the second stage of project implementation is the measure “Raise the awareness of young people on active civic participation”. The participants of the workshop will be youngsters representing high schools, youth organizations and other non-governmental organizations. They will meet and debate on the opportunities to which young people can participate in order to influence local democratic processes within the EU agenda.
A discussion platform is to be established to exchange ideas, practices and innovative solutions for young people facing with the local government. The outcomes of the workshop should fully contribute to the “Innowave” concept of Varna as awarded European Youth Capital 2017,which is to showcase youth policy making at the local level and to design new projects fostering young people’s commitment in the life of their city.
