On February 10th and 11th, 2020, the FOREST kick-off meeting took place in Legnaro, in the main branch of the lead partner Agenzia Veneta per L’innovazione nel Settore Primario – Veneto Agricoltura.

During the first day, the project coordinator and all partners introduced their organizations and educational services, and reviewed project objectives and results, discussing work and time plans.

During the second day, then, a seminar on an “Overview on the state of the art of forestry training in Italy and Europe” was held by Agenzia Veneta per L’innovazione nel Settore Primario, to draw a general framework about the European training offered in the forestry sectors.

After an introductory presentation of the FOREST project, each project partner contributed to the seminar by presenting a forestry training overview at their national level as well as existing training programs.

Keynote speakers also took part in the discussion. Isabella Pasutto from the Veneto Region described the distribution of public and private forests, different forest types, and forestry enterprises. Then, she presented the volunteer training program for professionals and guidelines for forestry operators offered by the Veneto Region. Finally, representatives from the Piedmont Region and IPLA detailed the Italian training framework within the forestry sector, underlining weaknesses and solutions to be undertaken, and introducing the FOR.Italy project.

The seminar was targeted to forestry operators with an interest for the alpine area, such as technicians, forestry associations, training organisations and schools.

The 2-day kick-off meeting was an important occasion to share good practices and discuss common solutions, as well as increase Forest networks. Read more about FOREST here.
