A period of Intense work, commitment and dedication by the European Environmental Bureau, the Social Platform, CONCORD, the Committee of the Regions and CSR Europe finally payed off and showed its fruits. The output has been the drafting of the paper of common proposals, which has been adopted by all the 30 members of the high level multi-stakeholder platform on SDGs, on October 11th, 2018.

This paper will then be kept into high consideration by the European Commission and will play a key role into the upcoming European Commission reflection paper “Towards a Sustainable Europe by 2030”. Quoting the Commission First Vice-President Frans Timmermans, “It is so encouraging to see such a broad group of stakeholders coming together and agreeing on the way forward on implementing the SDGs”.
As all the paper’s contributors and stakeholders, ALDA also hopes to see these proposals reflected in the upcoming discussions on the future of Europe, especially in view of the upcoming European elections of 2019.
As a member, ALDA congratulates with CONCORD for being one of the 5 pen holders of the final paper and, more in general, for its engagement to raise citizens’ awareness and responsibility for the future of the European Union, witnessed for instance by the present campaign for the EU elections “The EU Crystal Ball”.
