On Saturday 28th November, a meeting on the role of civic observers and local institutions active in tackling environmental misconducts in Campania Region, promoted by Region Campania, Anci Campania and National Federation COHEIRS, will take place in Naples, in Palazzo Salerno. Mr. Mattia Brazzale, Assistant to ALDA’s Secretary General, will attend the meeting on behalf of ALDA to present Europe for Citizens Programme.

The meeting confirms the success of COHEIRS (Civic Observers for Health and Environment: Initiative for Responsibility and Sustainability) project, led by ALDA, beyond its EU funding timeframe.

On 6th November 2014 indeed, the Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the consortium of COHEIRS project, on one side, and Region Campania on the other. The Memorandum aimed to officially recognise the role of civic observers in the Region as parteners in facing the environmental emergency of the territory, in deterring environmental abuses as well as raising citizen awareness trough trainings session in schools and public spaces. The success of the initiative led the partners to further concentrate the efforts and cooperate by establishing the National Federation COHEIRS.

The objective of Saturday meeting is to overcome divisions and relaunch the image of the territory, by promoting civic responsibility in environment protection.
