The kick-off meeting of the project ENLARGE – Energies for Local Administration: Renovate Governance in Europe – funded by the Horizon2020 Research programme of the EU, was held last 17 October in Milan. The event was an occasion to raise awareness on how to reinforce governance models in Europe, with specific focus on sustainable energy policies.
***
The two-year project aims at exploring existing models of participatory governance in the field of sustainable energy and, in particular, their legitimacy, effectiveness, sustainability and success mechanisms, by drawing together theoretical knowledge and on-the-ground experiences. The key outcome will be the production of an interactive knowledge tool for raising awareness among public administrators about different alternative participatory approaches, methodologies and tools and the potential consequences of these alternative scenarios based on concrete experiences and pragmatic examples.
The Milan event was also an opportunity to create synergies with other key H2020 funded research initiatives. Partners exchanged and analysed possibilities of joining forces with “Sharing Cities” (project led by the Municipality of Milan) and “Condomini Intelligenti” (led by the Metropolitan City of Genoa).
