From April 2nd to June 25th, in the context of the coronavirus lockdown, ALDA held a series of cultural webinars named “Thursday Strolls” with the slogan #stayathome, ALDA takes you around.
Starting on Zoom to then land on Facebook live streaming, the series constituted a wonderful journey – at times in Italian, at times in English – through a number of places, contexts, and issues, which regularly convened a varied audience on Thursdays at 6:30pm. Thanks to the inavaluable contributions of different experts, week by week the Thursday Strolls aimed to show one more piece of the world and convey a message in line with ALDA’s core values in 30 to 60-minute digital pills, while always also giving space to public participation through open questions.
The Thursday Strolls in English, in particular, were honoured to host the following special guests:
- Shadi Roushahbaz on the Persian New Year and its traditions
- Sergio Meggiolan (La Piccionaia) presenting /e•mò•ti•con/ – an international call for artists
- serial traveller Elisa Fourt on her world explorations for work, study and volunteering purposes
- and senior strategic advisor to Libyan municipalities Benedetta Oddo on “her” Libya, its struggles and possibilities.
The Thursday Strolls in Italian, in turn, were lucky to see the interventions of:
- the Refugees Welcome team of the city of Vicenza, Italy
- Antonio Nicoletti and Jacopo Bassetto presenting the book “Ci pensiamo noi”: proposals for a new Italy that gives room to youth with Association Tortuga
- writer and director Francesco Zarzana, member of the ALDA Governing Board and president of Association Progettarte, with his short film “Conciliare stanca” against violence on women
- Elisa Virgili (ActionAid Italia), Giovanna Vingelli (Centro Interdipartimentale Women’s Studies “Milly Villa” dell’Università della Calabria) and Antonello Massenti (CIES Albania) on women, work and empowerment
- Sofia Corsi (ALDA) and Tommaso Franchin (exvUoto teatro) on the participatory process of Gruppo Scintilla and a very special theatre workshop focused on “narrating places”
- and globetrotter Dario Virgis on his extensive solo journeys and on personal well-being.
And the exchange of views keeps being encouraged: the sessions are in fact now available on the ALDA Youtube channel in a dedicated playlist, where everybody is very much invited to comment and continue the conversation, expressing personal perspectives, experiences, and food for thought on the different topics.
