In these days, ALDA, the City of Gdansk (Poland) and its Mayor Mr. Pawel Adamowicz have been working intensively to promote local democracy and citizens’ participation at the local level in EaP.

Mr. Adamowicz is rapporteur of a CORLEAP political report on “Development of active citizenship as a way to strengthen local democracy in the Eastern Partnership countries”. The document has been also supported by the work and inquiry of Mrs. Nino Tvaltvadze, coordinator EaP of ALDA. The need to further support this field of activity for peace, stability and development in the region bordering with the EU had been identified.
The meeting was also greeted by the Vice President of ALDA, Mrs. Imka Gorska, Principal of the International School of Bydgoszcz, and by the Secretary General of ALDA, Mrs. Antonella Valmorbida. The development of the Local Democracy Agency in Odessa (Ukraine) was also on the agenda, with a partner meeting that identified possible paths of cooperation and priorities.
The City of Gdansk is actively promoting the engagement in the LDA Odessa in the territority of the city by engaging new municipalities and civil society groups. The project was also supported by representatives of the city of Gdansk who were present on line during the session. At the local Ukrainian level, ALDA can count on the active support of the Self Organised Association that was represented by its Deputy Director, Mr. Andrii Krupnyk. ALDA is assertively looking for new partners so to be able to initiate the activities of the LDA Odessa as soon as possible. The Delegate of LDA Dnipropetrovsk, Mr. Kirill Batalov, was also present to share the activities they are undertaken.
