Ifs and Debar have been working together in the framework of the cooperation between Normandy and Macedonia since 2011 on the topics of youth and European citizenship, culture and regional development. The current activities implemented by the two local authorities are on the subject of youth and European citizenship specifically involving the Youth municipal councils from Ifs and Debar.
A study visit for the young representatives of the Youth municipal councils from Ifs and Debar was organised in Paris from 6 to 10 March 2018. The purpose of this visit was that the youngsters from Macedonia and France meet and exchange opinions and experiences on their respective cities and the function of the Youth municipal council. After the discussion they decided to elaborate a common project which would have as an objective to improve the life of the local population. The common subject on which they chose to work is to emulate the differences and similarities of both local communities through the form of a photo exhibition or video.

The youngsters visited the photo exhibitions at the Museum “Jeu de Paume” in Paris for inspiration for their project. The study visit was finalised with reflections for their future collaboration and the realisation of a common project among the Youth municipal councils from Ifs and Debar on the subject of European citizenship for youth.

The biggest motive of the cooperation between Ifs and Debar is to work on projects of decentralised cooperation in order for young people to apprehend their role as active citizens in a European dynamic. These activities are implemented in the framework of the annual programme for decentralised cooperation between partners from Normandy and Macedonia.
