Development cooperation in Lithuania: Challenges and the Way Ahead
On 11 June, Irene Zanetti, Communication Officer of ALDA, took part in the conference “10 Years in The European Union: Lithuanian Development Cooperation Progress, Challenges and Prospects“ held in Vilnius, Lithuania, and organised by LITDEA.
LITDEA is the Lithuanian development education and cooperation network (association) of non-governmental institutions. Aim of the event was to review the development of Lithuania‘s development cooperation over decade and discuss what kind of development cooperation policy does Lithuania need our days.
Irene Zanetti presented ALDA's experiences and best practices as a panellist during the workshop focused on 'Involvement of private and public sector in development cooperation'. The workshop aimed to overlook the current situation of private and public sector involvement in development cooperation activities in Lithuanian and Europe in general, to share good experience of the partership of these different sectors, to introduce with partnership possibilities and methods, to indicate obstacles and off course to promote partnerships.
The project Working Together for Development was presented, as a best practice and major example of the fruitful cooperation between local authorities and civil society organisation for local development.
